While the alpen glow had long since faded, the light still danced along the ridgelines, snow drifting like whispers from the summit. This piece is a visual reminder to pause, breathe, and honour the grandeur that unfolds when we are fully present.

🩵 The story behind this image

This was the first morning on my Annapurna trek where time felt like it stretched out — where I wasn’t rushing to catch up with the group or trying to keep pace with the trail. It was just me, the mountains, and the crisp, biting air. 

I found a spot to sit, tucked away from the chatter of other hikers, and I let myself simply breathe. Everyone else was scrambling to capture the fleeting light of the mesmerising alpen glow, but my hands felt heavy as I reached for my camera. I felt called to simply sit, so I did. I just watched. The wind swept over the peaks, lifting the snow like whispers into the sky, each flurry catching the morning light. It was a moment of pure reverence — a reminder that sometimes the most profound beauty is found not in the spectacle, but in the stillness that follows. Later that morning, when the light had softened and the air had calmed, I finally took out my camera. While this image doesn't feature an alpen glow, it somehow captures the grandeur of the reverence I experienced earlier that morning.

This image holds the essence of that moment — a gentle, quiet power, a breath held in the presence of giants.
