We climbed the mountain in complete darkness, our breaths heavy, the path steep. The world was still. Just the sound of boots shuffling exhausted bodies. We were headed for the sunrise viewpoint at Poon Hill, a place famed for its panoramic views of the Annapurna range. But it wasn’t the view that moved me. It was the waiting. 

Before the crowds arrived, before the chatter of voices and the click of cameras, there was a sacred stillness. The stars hung heavy in the sky, their light brushing against the snow-capped peaks. One by one, the mountains revealed themselves as the first light of dawn kissed their edges. In that silence, there was a conversation — a connection. Between the mountains and the stars. Between the Earth and the sky. Between me and something far greater than myself. The crowds would come, and the magic would shift. But this moment — the silent moment before the light — that was where the real conversation happened.
